PO 59. Calculate crop P removal given yield and P concentration.
To determine crop removal, multiply yield (in lb) by the Dry Matter (DM) content times the P content of the DM.
- For example: 20 tons of silage yield at 35% DM and 0.62% P2O5.
- Crop P removal = 20 tons x 2000 lb/ton x 0.35 x 0.0062 = 87 lb P2O5 (or 4.35 lb P2O5/ton silage)
